God cares not for the length of our prayers...

God cares not for the length of our prayers, or the number of our prayers, or the beauty of our prayers, or the place of our prayers; but it is the faith in them that tells—believing that prayer soars higher than the lark ever sang, plunges deeper than diving-bell ever sank, darts quicker than lightning ever flashed. Though we have used only the back of this weapon instead of the edge, what marvels have been wrought! If saved, we are all the captives of some earnest prayer. ...Thomas De Witt Talmage image

Woman beheaded: 'Muslim convert' known as Fat Nick suspected of slaughtering grandmother
...Italian-born Mrs Silva, who owned a local café in Edmonton with her son Tony for more than 30 years, was found dead in the back garden of her home in Nightingale Road yesterday. Neighbours said a man dressed in black had decapitated cats with a foot-long machete-like blade and smashed the window of a car before running through rear gardens banging on doors and windows...

More IRS employees lost emails
The crashes all predate the congressional investigations, the IRS said, and “in each instance the user contacted IT staff and attempted to recover his or her data.” Still, the emails could be relevant because Republicans were asking the IRS about the matter more than a year before news of the scandal broke in May 2013.

The GOP had received complaints years before from conservative groups that said they were being treated unfairly, and those lawmakers then asked the IRS what was going on. The IRS said there was nothing atypical about the way the applications were being processed....

Woman Starts GoFundMe Campaign to Pay for Her Abortion So She Can Party ...The couple say they are raising funds for the abortion because insurance will not cover it.

“Bailey needs an abortion,” the page claims in a post. “Some of you know and love her. Some of you probably wish you could be her. She is the most important person in my entire life, and even though I didn’t help create the fetus inside of her, we need to get rid of it, because this affects me just as much as it does her.”

“Bailey is currently unemployed, completely broke, in debt, and in no position to hold down a job due to severe symptoms of a rough, unplanned and unexpected pregnancy,” the page continues. “Aside from having no desire to raise a child, she is economically unstable and can barely afford to support herself, which means having enough money to pay rent, smoke cigarettes, drink rockstar, support her friends in prison, and if she’s really busted her ass, maybe go to a show or two.”

If you’re following, apparently Bailey “needs an abortion” because having a baby would get in the way of her party lifestyle — catching rock shows and smoking...

ISIS Persecution of Christians 'Worst Since Holocaust,' Warns 'Vicar of Baghdad'

By Leah Marieann Klett
Sep 03, 2014

As reports continue to surface that the Islamic State is committing unspeakable war crimes in the Middle East, a humanitarian group working in Iraq confirm that the persecution of religious minorities is " like nothing that has been seen since the days of the Holocaust."

Amnesty International recently released a 26 page report revealing that ISIS is committing ethnic cleansing against religious minorities in northern Iraq, expelling around 830,000 Christians, Shiite Muslims, Yazidis and Mandeans from their homes.

"The massacres and abductions being carried out by the Islamic State provide harrowing new evidence that a wave of ethnic cleansing against minorities is sweeping across northern Iraq," Amnesty investigator Donatella Rovera. the rest

ISIS Teaches Children How to Behead in Training Camps
This summer, in his hometown of Raqqa, 13-year-old Mohammad was forced to attend a children's training camp established by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

When his father opposed his son's conscription, ISIS fighters threatened to kill him. Mohammad left for camp, which his father describes as a form of “brainwashing the children.”
After his return, his mother says she was surprised to find in his bag a blond, blue-eyed doll – along with a large knife given to her son by his ISIS supervisors. When she confronted Mohammad, he told her that the camp manager had distributed the dolls and asked that the children decapitate them using the knife, and that they were asked to cover the dolls' faces when they performed the decapitation.
It was his homework: practice beheading a toy likeness of a blond, white Westerner...

1,500-year-old papyrus is the first to refer to the Last Supper A researcher analysing a 1,500-year-old papyrus tucked away in the University of Manchester's John Rylands Library for over a century has made a startling discovery.

The ancient fragment contains the earliest reference to the Last Supper, a crucial event in the Gospels.

Thumbs Up: For Once the Media Actually Reports a Baby is a Baby Well this is worth a thumbs-up: the networks are choosing “baby” over “fetus” to describe one very special unborn baby this morning.

During their morning broadcast news shows, NBC and ABC featured a now-viral ultrasound of a baby in the womb giving the thumbs-up. Hosts gushed over the “incredible” and “cute” shot – and, in a surprising move, repeatedly used the word “baby.”...

New York farmers stop hosting weddings after $13,000 fine for declining lesbian ceremony  New York farmers Robert and Cynthia Gifford, who were ordered last week to pay $13,000 for not hosting a same-sex "wedding," say they are closing that part of their operation.

"Going forward, the Giffords have decided to no longer host any wedding ceremonies on their farm, other than the ones already under contract," said Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) lawyer James Trainor. ADF represented the Giffords in their legal fight against New York's non-discrimination law...

A married mom and dad really do matter: New evidence from Canada  There is a new and significant piece of evidence in the social science debate about gay parenting and the unique contributions that mothers and fathers make to their children’s flourishing. A study published last week in the journal Review of the Economics of the Household—analyzing data from a very large, population-based sample—reveals that the children of gay and lesbian couples are only about 65 percent as likely to have graduated from high school as the children of married, opposite-sex couples. And gender matters, too: girls are more apt to struggle than boys, with daughters of gay parents displaying dramatically low graduation rates.

Unlike US-based studies, this one evaluates a 20 percent sample of the Canadian census, where same-sex couples have had access to all taxation and government benefits since 1997 and to marriage since 2005...

Boko Haram seize churches in Nigeria; Distortion in the Church...more

Obama Lifts Ban Barring Libyans from US Flight Schools and Nuclear Studies To the horror of many in Congress, President Obama has reportedly ordered  lifted the 31-year ban preventing Libyan nationals from attending flight schools and studying nuclear science in the United States.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s recent directive reports, “The United States Government and the Government of Libya have normalized their relationship, and most of the restrictions and sanctions imposed by the United States and the United Nations toward Libya have been lifted.”

“Therefore,” the document continues, “DHS, after consultation with the Department of State and the Department of Defense, is considering rescinding the restrictions that deny nonimmigrant status and benefits to a specific group of Libyan nationals.”...

Boko Haram seize churches in Nigeria
Islamist group Boko Haram has begun taking over churches in the areas of Nigeria where it has gained control, beheading men and forcing women to convert to Islam, according to local reports.

Christian Beaten, Tortured and Killed by ISIS for Refusing to Convert to Islam reported on Tuesday that the 43-year-old man, Salem Matty Georgis, remained in the Syriac Christian town of Bartella after it was captured by ISIS on August 7. A relative said that the man was suffering from heart disease and could not leave the town with his family because of his illness.

Georgis hid in his home for three weeks, but eventually had to venture outside in search of food. He was then confronted by an ISIS patrol in town.

"The patrol arrests him and tried to force him to convert to Islam, but he completely refused. Thus, the militants beat him and tortured him until he died in their hands," the relative explained...

Why did YouTube yank pastor's ISIS message?
The pastor of a small-town Baptist church in Georgia says he got banned from YouTube after he posted video of a Sunday sermon he gave about the persecution of Christians in the Middle East.
“Apparently, they didn’t like me preaching on radical Islam, so I got booted and banned,” said Daniel Ausbun, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Moreland, Ga. “This is sermon censorship.”

Distortion in the Church
Finally, someone said it!

That’s what I’m hearing from concerned citizens and faithful Christians who spot liberal ideas sprouting from within the Evangelical community. Perhaps you too have noticed that something is a bit off with younger Evangelicals’ stance on same-sex marriage, religious liberty, big government, and even the sanctity of life.

Something has gone wrong. It is hard to admit, but for too long many conservatives and Christians have been so focused on the decay of our government that we let our guard down at the doors of our sanctuaries. So the Left soundlessly crept into the Church...

Christian Students Witness Radicalization of Children on the Temple Mount ..."Our group was touring the Old City of Jerusalem and visiting the Temple Mount when we happened upon a demonstration of Muslim women leading dozens of young children in a protest march." said Michael Onifer, program director for Eagles' Wings. "The women were leading the children in a chant which said 'We will liberate Palestine with our blood and our flesh.' Our students were distraught by the obvious brainwashing of these innocent young children happening right on front of them. Israel Experience Scholars visiting the Temple Mount in 2013 witnessed Muslim men leading dozens of children in the same chant demonstrating the ongoing radicalization of children."...

Albert Mohler: The Osteen Predicament — Mere Happiness Cannot Bear the Weight of the Gospel The evangelical world, joined by no shortage of secular observers, has been abuzz about the latest soundbite of note from the Pastors Osteen — this time offered by Victoria Osteen as her husband Joel beamed in the background. It is a hard video to watch.

In her message, Victoria Osteen tells their massive congregation to realize that their devotion to God is not really about God, but about themselves. “I just want to encourage every one of us to realize when we obey God, we’re not doing it for God–I mean, that’s one way to look at it–we’re doing it for ourselves, because God takes pleasure when we are happy. . . . That’s the thing that gives Him the greatest joy. . . .”

She continued: “So, I want you to know this morning — Just do good for your own self. Do good because God wants you to be happy. . . . When you come to church, when you worship him, you’re not doing it for God really. You’re doing it for yourself, because that’s what makes God happy. Amen?”...

New York schools drop Michelle O’s lunch program
Central New York’s Fayetteville-Manlius and Baldwinsville school districts are the latest to ditch the National School Lunch Program, which was revamped in 2010 under the guidance of First Lady Michelle Obama in an effort to fight childhood obesity.

Strict limits on calories, fat, sugar, carbohydrates, sodium and other aspects of the school lunch imposed by the federal government on schools participating in the free and reduced lunch program has not only increased cafeteria costs, they’ve resulted in a drastic drop in the number of participating students.

At Fayetteville-Manlius, Baldwinsville, and thousands of other districts the new regulations resulted in a sharp downturn in students who eat school lunch and a sharp increase in food waste. The lost sales are threatening the viability of cafeteria programs in schools across the country, prompting many to do without federal subsidies to serve students food they’ll actually buy and eat...

If we pray for anything according to the will of God...

Pacific Ocean goes night
If we pray for anything according to the will of God, we already have what we pray for the moment we ask it. We do not know exactly when it will arrive; but we have learned to know God through the Spirit of God; and have learned to leave this in His hands; and to live just as happily whether the answer arrives immediately or later. - O. Missing Libyan jetliners raise fears of suicide airliner attacks on 9/11

By Bill Gertz
September 02, 2014

Islamist militias in Libya took control of nearly a dozen commercial jetliners last month, and western intelligence agencies recently issued a warning that the jets could be used in terrorist attacks across North Africa.

Intelligence reports of the stolen jetliners were distributed within the U.S. government over the past two weeks and included a warning that one or more of the aircraft could be used in an attack later this month on the date marking the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against New York and Washington, said U.S. officials familiar with the reports.

“There are a number of commercial airliners in Libya that are missing,” said one official. “We found out on September 11 what can happen with hijacked planes.”

The official said the aircraft are a serious counterterrorism concern because reports of terrorist control over the Libyan airliners come three weeks before the 13th anniversary of 9/11 attacks and the second anniversary of the Libyan terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi... the rest

With U.S. help, Iraqi forces and Shiite militias free besieged town
With U.S. warplanes opening a new front against Islamic State extremists, Iraqi forces and Shiite Muslim militiamen on Sunday broke the militant group’s nearly three-month siege of the northern town of Amerli as beleaguered residents greeted them with cheers..

Iraqi soldiers entered the farming town about 100 miles north of Baghdad a day after launching a ground operation aimed at freeing the 15,000 mainly Shiite Turkmen residents, who had been encircled by the Sunni Arab militants since June.

Residents said the soldiers brought gasoline and doctors to help alleviate what human rights activists described as one of Iraq’s gravest humanitarian crises...

In a rapid and wide-ranging interview, an often incredulous Reliable Sources host Brian Stelter talked to risible Muslim cleric Anjam Choudary, most recently seen yelling it out with Sean Hannity, over why he engages with western media, how he views the role of propaganda on either side, and Choudary’s invocation of 9/11 and 7/7 during sound check. Choudary, who refused to condemn the execution of James Foley, said that Muslims “see [western] journalists as really the propaganda machine of the Obama machine.” “That’s a crazy thing to say given that the only reason you know about the abuses of Abu Ghraib is because of American journalists,” Stelter replied, to Choudary’s objection. During an argument over whether moderate Muslims would reject Choudary’s interpretation of Islam, he accused them of “being paid by the government to say what they say.”

“Oh give me a break,” Steler said. “Now you’re just making up stiff.”

Next Stelter asked why Choudary bothered to go on shows like Hannity at all...

The last Armenians of Myanmar
Reverend John Felix, priest at the Armenian church in Yangon, also known as Rangoon, can't speak Armenian - but then neither can his congregation. Not that there is much of a congregation these days - just seven, myself included, on a recent Sunday morning.

The 150-year-old church enjoys an imposing location, at a street corner in downtown Yangon. It's a beautiful building, a patch of calm in a bustling city. The Armenian Orthodox church of St John the Baptist - standing, suitably, on Merchant Street - is almost all that's left of what was one of the city's main trading communities.

"To judge from church records, there were once a few hundred Armenian families in Burma but the last 'full' Armenian died last year. Across the country, there are no more than 10 or 20 families who are part Armenian - and just a handful still come to the church," says Felix...

Lost in America: Visa Program Struggles to Track Missing Foreign Students
The Department of Homeland Security has lost track of more than 6,000 foreign nationals who entered the United States on student visas, overstayed their welcome, and essentially vanished -- exploiting a security gap that was supposed to be fixed after the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

"My greatest concern is that they could be doing anything," said Peter Edge, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement official who oversees investigations into visa violators. "Some of them could be here to do us harm."

Homeland Security officials disclosed the breadth of the student visa problem in response to ABC News questions submitted as part of an investigation into persistent complaints about the nation’s entry program for students.

ABC News found that immigration officials have struggled to keep track of the rapidly increasing numbers of foreign students coming to the U.S. -- now in excess of one million each year. The immigration agency’s own figures show that 58,000 students overstayed their visas in the past year. Of those, 6,000 were referred to agents for follow-up because they were determined to be of heightened concern.

“They just disappear,” said Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. “They get the visas and they disappear.”...

Rotherham abuse whistleblower reportedly ‘booked on diversity course’ after raising concerns
As Twitchy reported yesterday, more than 1,400 children were abused in the British town of Rotherham, with a 153-report noting that “the girl victims were white, and their abusers Pakistani.”
Forbes contributor Roger Scruton blamed political correctness for the lack of action, writing that “police forces lean over backwards to avoid the accusation of racism, while social workers will hesitate to intervene in any case in which they could be accused of discriminating against ethnic minorities. Matters are made worse by the rise of militant Islam, which has added to the old crime of racism the new crime of ‘Islamophobia’. No social worker today will risk being accused of this crime.”...

Columbus churches vandalized: 'Infidels!' and "Qur'an 3:151"

13 WTHR Indianapolis

"Qur'an 3:151": "We will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve for what they have associated with Allah of which He had not sent down [any] authority. And their refuge will be the Fire, and wretched is the residence of the wrongdoers."
Updated: Sep 01, 2014

Columbus Police said they've never had anything like it - three churches vandalized in the same night.

Someone spray painted them on the outside. It's the words used, though, that have some people asking if this was more than a prank.

“It was just one word. It said ‘Infidels!'” Father Doug Marcotte said of what was spray painted on Saint Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Columbus overnight Saturday.

Parishioners saw that, along with the word "Qur'an 3:151" on their way into mass Sunday morning.

“It's certainly not a warm and fuzzy verse. It talks about the infidels, their refuge being the fire,” explained Father Marcotte... the rest
