I have set the Lord always before me;
    because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

One way to recollect the mind easily in the time of prayer, and preserve it more in tranquillity, is not to let it wander too far at other times. You should keep it strictly in the Presence of God; and, being accustomed to think of Him often, you will find it easy to keep your mind calm in the time of prayer, or at least to recall it from its wanderings.

We’ve lost touch with reality. Technology is certainly a factor. A few years ago, people on airplanes began pulling down the window shades. The world outside, alive with light, interferes with the screens that have become the focus of our attention. The darkened airplane cabins epitomize much of our existence these days. We’re cocooned in a shell of technology.
