Asian archbishop sees hope in Anglican 'common cause'
By Frank Stirk

RICHMOND, B.C. -- "There are lots and lots of Anglicans, both in Canada and in America," said Yong Ping Chung, "who have not bowed to Baal."

Last month, Yong -- who retired in February as the Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Southeast Asia -- was in the Vancouver area at the invitation of the Anglican Coalition in Canada. He met and worshipped with hundreds of local Anglicans who oppose what they see as the drift within the Anglican Church of Canada, and in particular, the Diocese of New Westminster, away from orthodox Christian beliefs.

While here, Yong met with the leaders of about half a dozen Anglican church groups and groups of individual Anglicans under the banner of '
Common Cause.' He also spoke with CanadianChristianity.com.
