Several Bishops Facing Health Setbacks

The day after the adjournment of a highly publicized diocesan convention, the Rt. Rev. John-David Schofield, Bishop of San Joaquin, was hospitalized Dec. 3 with what was later diagnosed as gall stones and a mild case of pneumonia in one lung. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Bishop Schofield was not the only episcopal leader to suffer a recent health setback, however. Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams was forced to rearrange his schedule for the remainder of the week after undergoing a minor surgical procedure to have a small cyst removed from his left arm Dec. 5. The procedure was straightforward and he is making a good recovery, according to a press bulletin published on the official website for Archbishop Williams.
