For Prayer: Six miners trapped in Utah coal mine collapse

CNN) -- Rescue workers in central Utah were searching for any sign of six miners thought to be trapped inside a coal mine that caved in early Monday.

By Monday afternoon, rescuers were about a half-mile from where the miners were thought to be working.

So far, rescue workers have been unable to establish communication with the miners. The miners were thought to have been working about four miles from the mine's entrance, said an official with the U.S. Mining Safety and Health Administration.

If the six miners survived the initial cave-in, they should have enough air and water to last several days, a mine executive told The Associated Press.
