Christian leaders have been urged to conduct their lives and ministries in such a way as not to claim any of the glory that is due to God alone, but to rather strengthen both the Church and nation by living out the demands of the great commission and by being salt and light for the world around them.

The call is contained in a Communiqué of the Standing Committee of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), comprising the House of Bishops, and delegates from the House of Clergy and the House of Laity, under the leadership of the Most Rev Peter J. Akinola, Primate of All Nigeria, which met in Osogbo, Osun recently.

The Primate challenged Christian leaders to consider the importance of maintaining consistency between their lifestyle and the Christian faith they profess, stating that "As a Church we have been called to be stewards of the creation and to care for the common good for all the people of Nigeria. It is therefore desirable and appropriate that we express this concern in practical Christian ways".
