TLC: Bishops, Archbishop of Canterbury Begin Private Sessions

When Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams meets with the House of Bishops beginning this morning in New Orleans, he will have at least three questions. The responses to those questions will likely be of historical significance to the Anglican Communion.
A senior member of Archbishop Williams’ staff confirmed as accurate comments contained in a letter to his diocese by the Rt. Rev. Duncan M. Gray III, Bishop of Mississippi. Bishop Gray wrote that the archbishop will seek clarification of the meaning and intent on three subjects, including Resolution B033 approved during the 75th General Convention in 2006. The resolution “call[s] upon standing committees and bishops with jurisdiction to exercise restraint by not consenting to the consecration of any candidate to the episcopate whose manner of life presents a challenge to the wider church and will lead to further strains on communion.” the rest
