Peters Creek church may vote to leave Presbytery

A Peters church that has wrangled for months with Washington Presbytery over its desire to move its people and property into a more conservative Presbyterian denomination will vote Sunday on whether to leave the Presbyterian Church (USA) without the presbytery's blessing.
Because of unexpected delays in resolving the property issue, "we feel we must disaffiliate from the PC(USA) and refer the matter of property back to the court," said Ray Peterson, an elder and spokesman for the 600-member congregation.
On May 10, the congregation obtained a temporary restraining order from Washington County Common Pleas Court to prevent an administrative commission of Washington Presbytery from seizing control of the congregation. Both sides later told the court that they would work "in good faith" toward a mutual resolution, but the case is still pending. the rest
