New York Catholic bishops release video ripping Gov. Spitzer's abortion bill

ALBANY - New York's Catholic bishops have put a video on YouTube attacking legislation advanced by Gov. Spitzer that they charge would make abortions "virtually immune to state regulation."

In the 10-minute clip, Kathleen Gallagher of the state Catholic Conference warns that the Spitzer bill would force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions and strip doctors of their medical licenses if they refuse to carry out the procedure.

Asked about the criticism Tuesday, Spitzer said, "With great respect, I disagree with the legal analysis." He added, "People will not be subject to lawsuits." the rest
