March 12 (Bloomberg) -- New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is under pressure to quit today after the state's Republican leadership threatened him with impeachment over allegations he was the client of a prostitution ring.

Spitzer, 48, who also faced calls to resign from fellow Democrats in the state Legislature, is weighing the consequences of not resigning following the impeachment threat, the New York Times reported, citing unidentified aides. Some of his aides said he may quit today, though they didn't know for certain, according to the Times. His wife, Silda Wall Spitzer, was telling him he shouldn't quit, the Times said. the rest
