'Chrislam' in Protestant churches

A Protestant renewal organization is concerned about the recent efforts of some mainline Protestant churches to produce an ecumenical reconciliation between Christianity and Islam.

According to a recent blog post from The Last Crusade, Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston, along with other congregations in Atlanta, Seattle, and Detroit, preached sermons and held Sunday school lessons on the founder of Islam, Mohammad, whom Muslims consider a prophet. Qurans were also placed in the pews next to Bibles.

Proponents of the movement, which has been dubbed "Chrislam," claim that Christians cannot love their neighbors without having a relationship with them. the rest image

I am shocked to see a Cumberland Presbyterian congregation involved in this. I thought they were staunchly orthodox.

I just threw up a little.

Look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

There is no "reconciliation" between Christianity and Islam.

Christianity rests upon the fact that a Jesus Christ, man and God, lived, died, and was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven. If you remove this belief, you no longer have Christianity.

Islam's profession of faith says "There is no God, but God, and Muhammed is his (final) Prophet." In other words, Jesus could be a cool guy, but not divine, nor could he rise from the dead or ascend into heaven as God's Son.

These items are not reconciliable, and will forever divide the faiths, no matter how nicely you want to play together.

WannabeAnglican, have you never heard of Photoshop®?

It's clearly a doctored photo, presumably created to illustrate what the article holds the future of "Chrislam" will look like.
