New York Governor Kathy Hochul Should Veto Assisted-Suicide Bill  The bill has relatively few safeguards. While it requires that two physicians affirm the judgment that a person’s condition gives him six months or less to live, it does not require that the person requesting the drugs be psychiatrically evaluated. As John Ketcham notes, it also fails to outline a mechanism for recovering the poison from a person who requests but ultimately declines to use it. And the bill’s drafters declined to include a residency requirement, meaning qualified citizens from any of the 37 states that forbid assisted suicide would legally be able to travel to New York to be euthanized.
   The title of New York’s bill mirrors that of Canada’s assisted-suicide law. The Canadian law, which at first also applied only to the terminally ill, shows how quickly even limited permissions for assisted death expand to other vulnerable populations. Screenshot

This law would empower officialdom to sanction death in certain circumstances. It would be lethally naive to overlook what a deathly revolution this would represent. The state would go from being a machine charged with defending the life of its citizens to one that sometimes dangles the prospect of death before its citizens. The law would turn certain officials into little emperors of death, with the power to give a Nero-style thumbs-up or thumbs-down to the life of the individual. You’re well and healthy? You must not die. You’re very ill or profoundly disabled? Maybe you should die. And maybe we should help you.

YoungHoon Kim, who identifies himself on his X profile as “the World’s Highest IQ Record Holder” and lists his intelligence quotient as 276, proclaimed his Christian faith in a statement posted to X on Tuesday. “As the world’s highest IQ record holder, I believe that Jesus Christ is God, the way and the truth and the life,” he wrote. 
   In replies to posts reacting favorably to his embrace of Christianity, Kim vowed to “use this opportunity to lead many souls to God and declared, “Christ is my logic.” In a March 18 post, Kim wrote, “One of the best things I have ever done in my life is earning a BA degree in Christian Theology (nondenominational) from Yonsei University, # 1 private university in Asia.” He referred to theology as “the ultimate discipline of all fields of study.”

The same people and organizations that told us that same-sex marriage was about letting adults live and let live championed transitioning children and demanded a drag queen in every child’s library story hour and a man in every girls’ locker room. They declared that “eunuch” was a valid “gender identity” that ought to be medically affirmed.
