This is the real doom loop. It will change everything about life in the Bay Area The Bay Area is getting old fast, and it’s accelerating. Though aging is a global trend, the San Francisco metro area — which includes San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Marin counties — is already the third-oldest among 20 of the largest regions in the U.S., trailing only two places in Florida. And no other region is growing older at a quicker pace.
That means fewer children, more elderly people and a declining number of 20-somethings. The confluence of demographic shifts will profoundly impact every aspect of life in the San Francisco area. Combined with rising housing costs and growing hostility toward immigration, the graying of cities and towns means the region’s continued prosperity is in doubt.

This has become more evident in recent weeks, when we saw a pair of rocket launches carrying top-secret military payloads, the release of a mysterious object from a Russian mothership in orbit, and a sequence of complex formation-flying maneuvers with a trio of satellites nearly 400 miles up.

In one case, a 13-year-old girl was swarmed several times a day with groups of children giving her the Nazi salute.
Many incidents referred to the war in Gaza, with one teacher calling a student a “baby killer” because she admitted her family supported Israel’s war against Hamas.

Many young folks can’t tell time on an analog clock … or do the simple math required to count back change from, say, an $18.47 purchase if a twenty-dollar bill was handed to them. A great many no longer like to deal with live human beings at all. And no longer know how to properly and effectively do so.
Even if in the immediate vicinity of another person or family member, many choose to text them instead of looking them in the eye and talking to them. You can see this in a dentist office’s lobby, a hospital waiting room … or at the family dinner table. It is a sad sight, indeed.
