“Beware of manufacturing a God of your own..."

“Beware of manufacturing a God of your own: a God who is all mercy, but not just; a God who is all love, but not holy; a God who has a heaven for every body, but a hell for none; a God who can allow good and bad to be side by side in time, but will make no distinction between good and bad in eternity. Such a God is an idol of your own, as truly an idol as any snake or crocodile in an Egyptian temple. The hands of your own fancy and sentimentality have made him. He is not the God of the Bible, and beside the God of the Bible there is no God at all." ...JC Ryle

The Return of Socialism and the GOP's Golden Opportunity  In an April speech in Austin, Texas, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas argued that progressivism and American constitutionalism are fundamentally incompatible. He's right. It's also true that socialism — real, genuine socialism — is incompatible with the American way of life as it's been experienced for two and a half centuries. That's a fact — and it's a powerful argument to make in this milestone 250th American birthday year, in particular. Republicans should make that argument passionately and with alacrity.

Islamunist Mamdani Torched for Erasing Little Italy, Little Ireland, and Jewish Areas from Map of NYC, Includes Little Palestine New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is being shredded over a map of the Big Apple that glaringly omits iconic neighborhoods such as Little Italy, Little Ireland, and Jewish areas. Instead, there is heavy representation of Islamic enclaves such as Little Palestine, Little Pakistan, and Little Egypt, among others. The map was part of the World Cup tourism campaign, and Italians are calling it an insult to one of the communities that helped build New York.

Mamdani’s Rent Freeze Threatens Everyone Who Owns Anything  Fuel costs went up 11% in the last year, and insurance went up 10.5%, but Mamdani’s RGB announced Thursday that landlords will get no increases this year or the next. And, according to Mamdani’s campaign promises, not even in the years after, as long as he is mayor.
Zero rent hikes will cause buildings to rapidly fall into disrepair — just what the new mayor intends. On May 29, he announced that when landlords fail to keep buildings up to code, “we will take aggressive legal action” to “transfer ownership to responsible stewards — stewards that include community land trusts, nonprofits and even the tenants themselves.”

“A specter is haunting America — the specter of communism.” That is a variation of the opening line of The Communist Manifesto (1848) by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, which states: "A spectre is haunting Europe — the spectre of communism."
Is it possible that the ghost of communism is indeed haunting America? How could that be? Didn’t we win the Cold War?

25 Million Communists in America...43% of ‘students’ rate Communism favorably  Demonstrating once again that at least part of the problem is the extended educational system, postgrads are the educational group with the highest level of support for Communism. Their 16% “very favorable” rating for Communism exceeds that of even Gen Z.
Government employees are among the most positively disposed towards Communism with 14% “very favorable” towards Communism and 17% somewhat favorably disposed so that 31% or nearly a third of government employees have a positive view of Communism.
A few generations ago we would have seen that as an urgent national security crisis. Now it just helps explain why our system works so badly and why the bureaucracy is so radical.

Trump’s Immigration Enforcement Really Is Slashing Violent Crime   Nor is it a coincidence that the record influx of illegal immigrants during the Biden administration coincided with a sharp increase in violent crime. It is equally unsurprising that crime has fallen as deportations have increased. Deportation records show that 70 percent of illegal immigrants deported during the Trump administration had either criminal convictions or pending criminal charges in the United States. Even those who avoid arrest understand that any contact with law enforcement could lead to deportation, giving them a strong incentive to stay off the police’s radar and avoid committing additional crimes.

Fifth Circuit Rules Against In-State Tuition for Illegal Aliens  It is important to note that the ruling specifically states that universities cannot provide in-state tuition to aliens when it does not provide such benefits to American nationals regardless of residency. It therefore undercuts the tuition break for foreigners on the explicit argument of it being unfair to citizens not residing in the state i n question.

Strongest El Nino In 75 Years Sets Off Food Supply-Chain Alarm Bells   The CPC, a NOAA/National Weather Service unit that issues official US government climate outlooks, wrote in its report that sea-surface temperatures at least 1C above normal have spread across the central and eastern equatorial Pacific, with an 81% chance the event becomes "very strong" and ranks among the largest on record since 1950. Some parts of the Pacific were 2.7C above normal last week. Image

Meet the 15-year-old prodigy trying to unlock the secrets to human immortality  By the time many children are still settling into middle school, Simons was already moving through high school. He graduated at age 8 and began undergraduate studies in electrical engineering at Eindhoven University of Technolog before turning 10.
He later shifted to physics at the University of Antwerp after scheduling problems disrupted the engineering program. The change did not slow him down.

Kaiser Nurses Sound the Alarm That AI Surveillance Threatens Patient Care and Human Dignity  This push toward surveillance-heavy AI in healthcare fits a troubling pattern. Large institutions, often shielded by layers of bureaucracy and progressive policy, embrace unproven technologies while sidelining the experienced judgment of frontline workers.
The result? A system that treats nurses not as skilled caregivers but as cogs in a machine optimized for throughput and savings.
