Now when Jesus was at Bethany...

Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table. And when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? For this could have been sold for a large sum and given to the poor.” But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to me. For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me. In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial. Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.” -Matthew 26:6-13 Image

There is a certain extravagance in love. The alabaster phial of perfume was meant to be used drop by drop; it was meant to last for years, perhaps even a life-time; but in a moment of utter devotion, the woman poured it on the head of Jesus. Love does not stop nicely to calculate the less or more; love does not stop to work out how little it can respectively give. With a kind of divine extravagance, love gives everything it has and never counts the cost. Calculation is never any part of love.

Trump admin officially withdraws from WHO, says it ‘shattered’ American lives during COVID  The harm inflicted by the WHO through its push of the dangerous and even deadly experimental COVID mRNA shots, as well as lockdown policies that strangled small businesses and led to spikes in depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and drug abuse, is enormous. Just ponder how deranged and bestial you have to be to seek out a federal law enforcement officer for the express purpose of assaulting him, and then deliberately bite off his finger. I can't help but think of Gollum biting off Frodo's finger at the climax of The Lord of the Rings to obtain the Ring; and the fiction has a parallel to the reality. As Tolkien meant the Ring to represent sin and evil, and as Gollum is destroyed and driven mad by it, so leftist domestic terrorists seem drunk on and driven mad by their lust for violence and revenge.

When Democrats commit electoral fraud, they accuse Republicans of trying to steal elections.  When leftist revolutionaries burn down cities, ambush and murder law enforcement officers, and demand that state and local governments “defund police,” Democrats accuse grandparents and veterans of being “insurrectionists.”  When Bill Clinton gets caught hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein, the Democrat-aligned press accuse Donald Trump of impropriety.  When leftist agitators violate federal law by disrupting Christian worship services in Minneapolis, Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries runs to propaganda network MSNOW to accuse Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents of storming churches.

Judgment begins with the household of God….1 Peter 4:17
The verse cited suggests that God's judgment will first affect His own people, the church, before it extends to the world. It is not a verse you will ever hear preached from a liberal pulpit. Nobody will ever persecute The Episcopal Church, the Anglican Church of Canada or the Church of England. They don’t believe enough to persecute. Worse, they are being ignored. Furthermore, people are walking away because they have no transcendent message to proclaim to a spiritually threadbare nation.
