(CNSNews.com) - The pastor of an underground Protestant church in China appeared before a Beijing court Thursday, accused of illegally printing more than 200,000 Bibles and other Christian books.

Pastor Cai Zhuohua's appearance before the People's Court in the capital's Haidian district came on the day Chinese President Hu Jintao was due to meet with President Bush and other world leaders at the G8 summit in Scotland.

Printing Bibles is illegal in communist China, where human rights groups say only an approved publisher is permitted to do so in limited numbers on behalf of the state-sanctioned "patriotic" church.
