Roving Methodists redefine old-fashioned 'camp' meeting
BY MARK HUNTER

RAYNE -- Once a month, nearly year-round, a small group of dedicated Methodists meet at campgrounds around Louisiana to fellowship and introduce other like-minded folks to the joys of Christian camping.

The group, Louisiana Chapter 15, is part of the National United Methodist Campers Inc., a "national Christian family camping club affiliated with the United Methodist Church through the General Board of Discipleship," according to the group's brochure. There are 14 other state groups from Alabama to Connecticut to New York to Texas.
