Controversial cult leader is allowed back into Britain

THE head of the so-called Moonies, one of the world’s most controversial cults, will fly into Britain today after the Home Secretary lifted a long-standing ban barring him from entering the country.

The Rev Sun Myung Moon, 86, founder of the Unification Church, was given an exclusion order ten years ago amid allegations that his church used underhand methods to manipulate and recruit members.

In 1995, Michael Howard, then Home Secretary, excluded Mr Moon from entering Britain on the ground that his presence would not be “conducive to the common good for reasons of public order”.
