When the Rev. David T. Andrews prepared to go to Minneapolis in 2003 as a deputy to the Episcopal General Convention, he was clear on how he intended to vote on some issues.
"I could have told you a month before I went out I was supporting Gene Robinson," said Andrews, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chittenango. "I just don't know this time."
He was among deputies - elected representatives - who voted to affirm the election of Robinson, the Episcopal Church's first openly gay bishop. Robinson's election and consecration as bishop of New Hampshire have been at the center of a denominational debate about homosexuality and biblical authority. the rest
