Terry Kelshaw leaves US Church

The retired Bishop of the Rio Grande has quit the Episcopal Church in the United States for the Church of Uganda. The Rt. Rev. Terry Kelshaw will be the ninth US bishop to quit the American church in the past 12 months in protest to the Church’s leftward drift on doctrine and discipline.

On Feb 14 the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Rio Grande in New Mexico announced Bishop Kelshaw had written to US Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori announcing his resignation from the House of Bishops. Bishop Kelshaw’s successor, Bishop Jeffrey Steenson quit the Episcopal Church for the Roman Catholic Church in September. Three other American bishops have gone over to Rome, two to the Southern Cone, one to Uganda and one to Nigeria. the rest
