Nigeria: Anglican Primate Charges Leaders

Primate of All Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Reverend Peter Akinola, has warned that the attainment of a virile Nigeria would continue to elude the citizens for as long as political office holders continue to take decisions that are spiritually suicidal while they charge religious leaders to pray harder for a change for the better in the country.

Bishop Akinola who was the President of the seventh Synod of the Diocese of Abuja, Church of Nigeria, regretted that so far, religious leaders have have little or no influence on political leaders who mostly are lured into taking repressive decisions that leave majority of the populace in sorrow to score political points.

Speaking with journalists after presiding over the closing ceremony of the Synod at the Basilica of Grace, Gudu, Abuja, Bishop Akinola regretted that, "unfortunately, the Church has not been able to influence our political leaders in taking their decisions. the rest
