A shooter killed a faculty member in a science building at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Monday, police said after a lockdown paralyzed the campus community as authorities searched for a suspect.
Police arrested the suspect about an hour and a half after the initial reports of shots fired came in from Caudill Labs, officials said at a news conference. Charges were pending, and the suspect was not immediately identified.

A Christian ministry claiming it was "debanked" by Bank of America filed a consumer complaint this week to Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti to determine whether their accounts were closed due to religious discrimination.
Indigenous Advanced Ministries – a Memphis, Tennessee-based nonprofit engaged in charitable efforts for orphaned children in Uganda through various partnerships – was warned without explanation by Bank of America in April that the organization was "operating in a business type we have chosen not to service at Bank of America" and would be closed within 30 days.

According to the New York Times, in 2017, Flannery was trying to sell an idea to build an entire city — walkable and green. Its proximity to San Francisco suggests that the new city would be an escape hatch for those who are finding San Francisco unlivable. But others aren’t so sure.
“We don’t know who Flannery is, and their extensive purchases do not make sense to anybody in the area,” said Rep. John Garamendi, (D., Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee’s readiness panel. “The fact that they’re buying land purposefully right up to the fence at Travis raises significant questions.”

"What the problem is, is that they don't understand that millions of people – look at this milk running away – if it's the end of the month, I dump 30,000 liters of milk and it breaks my heart," the man states.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated on Aug. 23 that the new BA.2.86 COVID-19 lineage may cause infection in people who received vaccines or previously had the virus.
