Anti-Israel protesters vandalize WWI memorial; American Universities Are On A Death Spiral...more

Anti-Israel protesters vandalize WWI memorial, burn American flag after cops block group from reaching star-studded Met Gala in NYC   At least one America-hating vandal torched Old Glory at the site of the 107th Infantry Memorial, the base of which was defaced with graffiti reading “Gaza” in large black letters.
Others plastered the statue’s bronze soldiers with stickers of the Palestinian flag that read “Stop the Genocide. End the apartheid. Free Palestine.” Image

Anti-Israel Protesters Disrupt Holocaust Remembrance Day Event at Auschwitz  Local police put up a barricade to prevent dozens of demonstrators from approaching the marchers, who passed by as the protesters shouted slogans including “stop the genocide.”

But more disturbingly, there may be a sense that secularism has so pervaded the culture of France and elsewhere in the West that the symbols of Christianity, which shaped that culture for centuries, aren't viewed so much as dangerous as irrelevant and even embarrassing. Some 51 percent of the French metropolitan population aged eighteen to fifty-nine professes no religion at all, according to government statistics. Catholicism, once France's preeminent faith, now commands only 29 percent of the population; among Catholics, only 8 percent attend Mass regularly. First Things

13 Federal Judges Say They Will No Longer Hire Law Clerks From Columbia University, Citing ‘Virulent Spread of Antisemitism’ and ‘Explosion of Student Disruptions’   "Freedom of speech protects protest, not trespass, and certainly not acts or threats of violence or terrorism," the judges wrote. "It has become clear that Columbia applies double standards when it comes to free speech and student misconduct."

Columbia cancels university-wide graduation ceremony after weeks of anti-Israel protests  School spokesman Ben Chang added, “Holding a large commencement ceremony on our campus presented security concerns that unfortunately proved insurmountable.

American Universities Are On A Death Spiral, And We Should Help Them Along   The universities do not uphold the Western tradition. They openly spurn it. Unlike Socrates, they do not produce new generations of Platos and Aristotles. Instead, they churn out morons who spout half-baked slogans about colonialism and oppression. There are no luminaries emerging from these exalted institutions. It is insane for any nation to fund its own destroyers, and many students of our top universities openly hate America. This is no secret conspiracy. They will say so if you ask them, explaining in elaborate (albeit erroneous) detail how our nation is built on “stolen land” and “the backs of slaves.”

Government Weaponization: My Testimony to the House: Todd Zywicki, law professoer at George Mason University.   Why did the communications to the social media companies not consist of evidence, citations to studies, or medical evidence to demonstrate that the information being reported was factually incorrect—so that the social media companies could make their own determination and establish their own policies in consultation with other medical authorities? Instead, the communications were full of vitriol, conclusory accusations of bad faith, and repeated demands to censor particular individuals and content. Protecting the ability of the government to attack private companies, issuing veiled (and not-so-veiled) threats, and demanding the silencing of private individuals expressing themselves on important matters of public policy and individual health decisions, hardly seems like what the First Amendment was designed to protect. [Excellent!]
