Papal conclave live updates: Sistine Chapel doors close as conclave begins The master of ceremonies has called "extra omnes" -- ordering all those who are not cardinal electors to exit the Sistine Chapel prior to the start of the conclave.
   The door to the Sistine Chapel closed as the cardinals begin the process of choosing the new pope.

Dogmatic materialism and secularism have edged out Christianity in the Western world, and in many of its former strongholds Christianity is being challenged more aggressively than ever. Within the Catholic Church, divisions between the faithful widen as secular values inevitably seep in and disagreements over a growing list of theological, liturgical, and ethical hot-button issues intensify. Every Catholic knows how long that list is, and exactly which issues are on it, all too painfully.

The Next Pope Needs to Preserve Judeo-Christian Civilization    Although the Vatican's reason for being is to guide souls to God, its pronouncements on secular affairs not only have a profound impact, literally, on the lives of millions of Catholics, but on preserving the Judeo-Christian values upon which civilization is built, as well.

Italy: Catholic Kindergarten Children Forced to Perform Islamic Prayer Without Parenetal Consent, Sparking Outrage (Video)    Photos posted on the kindergarten’s Facebook page show the children kneeling with their foreheads to the ground, imitating Muslim prayer movements. One photo even shows them bowing in front of the imam as he leads the prayer. The school tried to spin this as a “cultural exchange” and described it as an “emotional experience.” They bragged about how the imam explained the five pillars of Islam and said the kids “even tried” the prayer.
