Prayer reaches to everything, takes in all things great and small which are promised by God to the children of men. Consequences of Compassion

Although the mainstream media actively works to suppress stories of illegal alien violent crime, the numbers are horrific. Murders, assaults, rapes, and road carnage caused by illegals are devasting. The exact numbers are impossible to obtain, in large part because most Democratic Party-controlled states and municipalities put restrictions on collecting and/or disseminating such data. In addition, their sanctuary policies work against cooperation with the federal government.

When Compassion Forgets Human Nature

Consequently, compassion achieves its highest purpose whenever it remembers who human beings actually are. We are bearers of the divine image and therefore worthy of profound love. Yet we are also sinners capable of profound folly. Christian faith embraces both realities with startling honesty. Public policy should learn the same lesson because every successful society must finally discover that grace perfects nature only when that society comes to understand human nature. Compassion guided by truth therefore accomplishes far more than compassion guided merely by emotive enthusiasm. Genuine love always seeks the lasting good of another rather than the comforting illusion that generous intentions and good feelings alone can save our fallen world.

There may be other forces at work in the brains of those who pity Lindsay Clancy, a child-killer without a political agenda. Yet it’s hard to avoid comparing her apologists with Luigi Mangione’s left-wing admirers. Mangione became a folk hero to anti-capitalist radicals after he killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in December 2024. Clancy’s case lacks the overt ideological angle, but emotions run deeper than ideas. Mangione and Clancy have both benefited from a warped sense of sympathy for the underdog and greater identification with the killers’ plight than with that of the victims. It’s been argued that this is a projection of “Main Character Syndrome,” the narcissistic belief of many people, in this age of social media, that the whole world is nothing but a film in which they are the star.
