"There's No Voting Ourselves Out Of This" -Restoration Through Catastrophe...more

Even though Frederic Bastiat lived two centuries ago, his wisdom echoes across the ages. His quote below is proof human nature never changes, despite technological advancement. He captures in one sentence the current state of affairs in the U.S. and most of western civilization.
"When misguided public opinion honors what is despicable and despises what is honorable, punishes virtue and rewards vice, encourages what is harmful and discourages what is useful, applauds falsehood and smothers truth under indifference or insult, a nation turns its back on progress and can be restored only by the terrible lessons of catastrophe."- Frederic Bastiat

The Domestic Terrorists of Tomorrow are Blocking Traffic Today...The "cause" is the process of finding those willing to kill.  Blocking traffic or airports isn’t really about ending Israeli attacks on Hamas, but about inflicting misery on Americans and making the leftist perpetrators feel powerful and self-righteous by expressing their malice. Don’t think of these as protests: think of them as initiation sessions like those of gangs and cults in which new members prove themselves by hurting someone.

Protest theater rewards leftist activists by making them into the focus of attention. Cameras are on them as they berate anyone in sight, from kids with cancer to Alec Baldwin, for their lack of empathy, and then, justified by the conviction that everyone else is bad, they make them suffer. Image

No diploma? No problem! Navy again lowers requirements as it struggles to meet recruitment goals The U.S. Navy is starting to enlist individuals who didn’t graduate from high school or get a GED, marking the second time in about a year that the service has opened the door to lower-performing recruits as it struggles to meet enlistment goals

College students aren't all that smart: IQ average falls to 102   The "college for all" movement and easy access to student loans persuaded most high school graduates to give college a try. However, only 58 percent of students complete a degree within six years, Pomeroy notes. Students with lower IQs are more likely to drop out. "One influential study showed that for white American undergraduates with an IQ only slightly above average, their chance of graduating is essentially 50-50."

Journalist David Zweig spotted an interesting paper released by the British Medical Journal. It concerns the effectiveness of HEPA filters in classrooms as a means of slowing or stopping the spread of Covid. The study looked at German kindergarten classrooms with and without the system and concluded there was no difference.

It’s not a surprising conclusion, once you think about it, simply because Covid is spread, if it is contracted at all, the way such coronaviruses are spread, namely through person-to-person aerosols. The major global efforts at “purifying” everything in sight was largely a waste, virus-control theater to give authorities something to do and a way to keep people hopping around like wallabies to avoid the invisible enemy.
