The Cost of “Making a Mess” -Charles J. Chaput; Christmas attack in Nigeria: 140 dead, 100s injured in Plateau State...more

Fiducia Supplicans: The Cost of “Making a Mess”: by Charles J. Chaput   Over the past decade ambiguity on certain matters of Catholic doctrine and practice has become a pattern for the current pontificate. The pope’s criticism of American Catholics has too often been unjust and uninformed. Much of the German Church is effectively in schism, yet Rome first unwisely tolerated Germany’s “synodal path,” and then reacted too slowly to preclude the negative results. At a time when fatherhood and male Christian spiritual leadership are in crisis, the Holy Father has asked his International Theological Commission to work on “de-masculinizing” the Church. The most urgent challenge that Christians face in today’s world is anthropological: who and what a human being is; whether we have some higher purpose that warrants our special dignity as a species; whether we’re anything more than unusually smart animals who can invent and reinvent ourselves. And yet our focus for 2024 is a synod on synodality.

Saying these things, of course, will invite claims of “disloyalty.” But the real disloyalty is not speaking the truth with love. And that word “love” is not some free-floating balloon of goodwill. It’s an empty shell without the truth to fill it. In Brazil in 2013, the Holy Father encouraged young people to “make a mess.” That’s come to pass in ways surely unintended by the pope. But in the end, pastoral leaders are accountable for their words and their actions. Because, as St. Paul said so long ago, “God is not the author of confusion but of peace.” Read it all

Can the Pope Overrule God? A reflection on where the Catholic Church is headed.  As for the notion that these blessings were possible as long as they “do not transmit a wrong conception of marriage,” my response is short and sweet: Are you kidding me?

Really now, is the Pope telling us a gay couple can live together, can be emotionally and physically intimate, and can commit to lifelong faithfulness without transmitting a wrong conception of marriage? What is the big difference between the two – other than the obvious fact that two men or two women cannot marry in God’s sight?

In August, I addressed the Church of England’s decision to allow Anglican clergy to “bless” same-sex couples, yet another apostate step made by this rapidly declining faith group.

We should remember the now modern proverb of Nixon-era economic advisor Herb Stein to the effect that what cannot go on (without destroying the nation), simply will not go on.

In some sense, the country for recent years has been cruising on the fumes from prior and likely better wiser generations and institutions. In 2024, the tab for our current apathy, toxic politics, and incompetence will come due.

So next year we will likely see the climax to a number of current dangerous ideas, events, and forces, which finally will either overwhelm us or be addressed and remedied. We live in a Neronian age but can recover if we first understand how we got here and the nature of the suicide we are committing.

Did you know that according to the American Bible Society, 2022 was the lowest year for biblical literacy in its 120-year polling history? On today’s edition of Family Talk, David Barton, the founder and president of WallBuilders, highlights American heroes whose convictions were firmly planted in the Bible. He also stresses the need for biblically-minded Christians to engage in politics at the local levels, because then we will be able to influence culture at the national level. Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.” Excellent podcast!

Christmas attack in Nigeria: Leaves 140 dead, 100s injured in Plateau State The area, situated on the border between the predominantly Muslim northern region and the predominantly Christian southern region of Nigeria, has a history marred by ethnic and religious tensions.

Hitler Wasn't Available: New York Times Runs Article by Hamas Official   Why is the New York Times publishing Hamas propaganda? Because doing so is consistent with its longstanding editorial policies. Ninety years ago, on July 9, 1933, just over five months after Adolf Hitler became chancellor of Germany and years after his virulent anti-Semitism and propensity for violence had become internationally known, the Times published a fawning puff piece on the Führer.

Cayuga County sheriff: Rep. Williams 'swatted' with report of shooting  U.S. Rep. Brandon Williams was the victim of a "swatting" incident on Christmas Day, Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck told The Citizen.
Members of Schenck's office and the New York State Police responded to a report of a shooting at 2 p.m. at Williams' home in Sennett, Schenck said. The call was made to the Cayuga County E-911 Center.
However, officers quickly confirmed the incident to be false, Schenck continued. His office believes the report was made to solicit an immediate response from law enforcement, a crime known as "swatting."
"It is unfortunate that someone would make such a false report on Christmas Day and cause Congressman Williams and his family such an inconvenience on this important holiday," Schenck said.

Biden Border Crisis: Illinois Paying for Hotel Rooms for Chicago's Illegal Immigrants  Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced on Christmas Eve that the state would send money to Chicago to “temporarily” house the illegal immigrants in hotel rooms.
Of course Pritzker announces the move on Christmas Eve. No one is paying attention!
I put quotes around temporarily because who knows how long it will last. Nothing is temporary when it comes to government.

Italian Church Nativity Scene Features Baby Jesus With Two Mothers — 'Saint Joseph, Sacrificed on the Altar of Political Correctness'   The offensive nativity is on display at the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, in Capocastello di Mercogliano, in the province of Avellino.

“I wanted to show with this scene that families are no longer just the traditional ones,” Father Vitaliano Della Sala told Reuters. “In our parishes we see more and more children from the new types of families that exist and are part of our society, children of separated and divorced people, gay couples, single people, young mothers.”

According to the report, Father Della Sala is known for supporting the LGBT community and far-left causes.

Joe Biden Leaves Jesus Out of His Christmas Message Biden made a Christmas Eve post and the pro-abortion president didn’t mention Jesus there either.

“Jill and I hope you are able to spend time with your loved ones this holiday season. During this time, we’re also thinking of the brave women and men in uniform who defend our nation, many of them away from their families. We wish you joy and happiness this Christmas Eve,” he said.

That’s a nice message about family but the supposedly “faithful Catholic” twice forgot that Jesus is the reason for the season.

Pro-Palestinians disrupt Christmas fundraiser for blind children Pro-Palestinians ambushed a Christmas community fundraiser for blind children in Australia as a stage for their anti-Israel activities.
