Pope Francis Faces Growing Worldwide Pushback Against His ‘Same-Sex Blessing’ Doctrine   All over the world, prelates and faithful alike have vigorously opposed the new directives from Francis, as a growing number of Catholic bishops in Africa and Europe are publicly voicing their rejection of the new document by the Vatican.

This will also affect Protestants. Whether we like it or not, the officer class of our culture cares little for debates about transubstantiation and papal authority. It makes no real distinction between Catholics and Protestants. In its eyes we are all Christians and thus the shenanigans of the pope will put pressure on us all. The argument will be that, if Rome can change, why can we all not change? The possibility of sheltering under that broad cultural umbrella that Rome has provided will be withdrawn on this issue and we will feel the pain of that. -First Things

So, pastors should not treat goats like sheep. They should love the goats by telling them they’re goats. They should show them the true spiritual food of the sheep and tell them that—if they repent of their sin and believe in Jesus Christ—this food is for them, too. At the end of the day, as much as I’d like to say otherwise, Reformed Pastors should do something relatively similar to what the Pope suggests: We should pray for people in same-sex unions. Prayer asks for God’s favor without endorsing the behavior of the one prayed for. Indeed, prayer often asks for favor despite the behavior of the one prayed for. The difference, however, is that the primary objective of the prayer should not be that God would “bless” these people but that God would save them by gifting them conviction, repentance, and true faith in Jesus Christ.

The Methodist Church of Great Britain Labels Terms ‘Husband‘ and ‘Wife‘ Offensive  The Methodist Church of Great Britain has called on its ministers, deacons, and elders to stop using offensive terminology such as “husband” and “wife” to avoid making assumptions that are not “the reality for many people.”

The church added the changes to its “Inclusive Language Guide,” an initiative aimed at preventing the use of “hurtful language” directed at groups the Methodist Church believes have been “marginalised and/or demonised by common culture.” The church plans to update the Inclusive Language Guide every six months to avoid using language that could offend groups it perceives as marginalized.

Just as we need them most, it’s nigh-on impossible to find anyone in the West who resembles Churchill, Roosevelt, Truman or even Nixon or Reagan. The EU bureaucracy certainly is no substitute for De Gaulle. The West cannot win, or even stay relevant, in the “clash of civilisations” if it does not believe in itself, and continues to neglect the physical means to protect its interests.

Canada on track to let doctors offer assisted suicide to mentally ill people   Canada is set to offer assisted suicide to Canadians with mental illnesses, The New York Times reported on Wednesday.

The law would make Canada one of the few countries that allow individuals struggling with mental illness to seek assisted suicide through a doctor, according to the NYT. It is set to go into effect in March, and has drawn condemnation from lawmakers and mental health professionals, the latter of whom fear it will undercut their efforts to help their patients and prevent them from committing suicide.

“I’m trying to keep my patients alive,” Dr. John Maher, an Ontario-based psychiatrist, told the NYT. “What does it mean for the role of the physician, as healer, as bringer of hope, to be offering death? And what does it mean in practice?”
