The Great Dechurching Will Hurt Poor People; Faith and the City...more

Lost Caravaggio masterpiece of Christ now on display in Madrid, Spain  Titled “Ecce Homo” (“Behold the Man”), the painting was created between 1605 and 1609 and depicts the moment Pontius Pilate presented the scourged Jesus Christ to the crowds ahead of his crucifixion. Image

Members of mainline denominations as a percentage of the US population have dropped to the single digits. That’s bad news for the poor and vulnerable.
Churchgoing is good for the poor and vulnerable in a variety of ways: it gives people moral guidance on how to live their lives. It gives them opportunities to directly serve others as a community. It results in tithes that are then spent on a wide variety of charitable works. These things are not salvation, and it is certainly possible for someone to be warming a pew for 50 years without a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. But any person is far more likely to find Jesus while nodding off in a pew than watching Netflix in bed.

Faith and the City...Even in an age of rationalist skepticism, religion remains indispensable to urban life Throughout the long history of cities, religion has played a central, even dominant, role, providing education, charity, and moral ballast in places where social chaos often flourishes. From the days of the earliest Mesopotamian cities to the modern metropolis, religion has served as a source of inspiration—as evidenced by structures from Saint Peter’s to Saint Patrick’s—and a consolation for populations that otherwise would be left to the vicissitudes of the mean streets or the cold mercies of the state. Even in an age of rationalist skepticism, religion remains indispensable to city life.

Most of the disturbing and unsightly trends in children’s clothing and appearance these days are not just signs of teenage exploration or rebellion, but have ties to deviant social movements, aberrant ideologies, or even dark subcultures children find on the internet and emulate in real life.

Ithaca (NY) Public Schools Must Desegregate 'Students of Color' Summit, Demands Equal Protection Project EPP calls for event to be open to all students and staff. Ithaca Board of Education member: “We’ve had some people ask us as a Board …, why would we support something that separates young people out by the color of their skin?”

Despite the expansion of CRT/DEI throughout the government, the cloak of secrecy behind which CRT/DEI has operated is being stripped away. American industry, education, and society are rapidly disassembling CRT/DEI programs. They cost money and simply destroy effectiveness.
This is particularly true within DoD. Recognition of the rot in operating cohesiveness is dominating the debate about CRT/DEI. Recruiting new members into the military is failing to meet target levels. Operating effectiveness is suffering. We probably could not win a major war.

The Ford-Class Aircraft Carrier Nightmare Is Beyond Fixing Now  Despite advanced technology and automation reducing crew requirements, these carriers face challenges due to anti-access/area-denial (A2/AD) systems deployed by potential adversaries like China.
The new carrier's high cost and potential vulnerability to cheaper A2/AD systems raise concerns about its effectiveness in future conflicts.

‘Unconstitutional’: Letitia James Slapped With Lawsuit Over Alleged Censorship Of Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers   “Having cited some of these studies in her lawsuit against other pro-life pregnancy centers in state court, the Attorney General knows full well that the contested statements about progesterone treatment are supported by research but has targeted centers that tell women about this option because of the centers’ pro-life viewpoint and the content of their speech,” the lawsuit reads. What Happens When Charter Schools Are So Successful That Public Schools Could Shut Down?  There has been a catastrophic decline in public school enrollment in Florida. Part of it is the hangover from the pandemic that has affected school systems nationwide. But in the case of Florida, it's the success of school choice programs that have allowed tens of thousands of parents to enroll their kids in private schools or homeschool them.

If we are to restore virtue in our culture, higher education must demand more of itself and its students. Students deserve more opportunities to grow into virtuous citizens and unleash their full potential. Their future, and the future of our country, depends on it.

The ‘Massive Strain’ of Illegal Migration on U.S. School System  Illegal migration costs Americans billions of dollars, and many of the illegals never give back into the system. Fewer than half of the illegals who entered America under Biden are employed, for instance.
U.S. kids are already struggling and many were educationally delayed by COVID-19 lockdowns. We simply cannot afford to keep funding an endless stream of illiterate foreign kids as well.

Why Are Vast Numbers of People Relocating to Small Towns All Over the Country? Violence, theft, drugs, homelessness and international migration have all risen to crisis levels and are putting a tremendous amount of strain on our core urban areas.  Meanwhile, many small towns are absolutely booming as wave after wave of big city refugees comes pouring in.

A CBS News Report From Over 40 Years Ago Proves Global Warming Is the Ultimate Hoax  The green folks want us to sacrifice trillions in economic activity to save the planet. That’s the byproduct of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal, which aims to ban the internal combustion engine. Anyways, here’s a 1982 CBS News segment on the subject, where the godfather of fake news, Dan Rather, anchors the end times projections from these environmental clowns, who predicted that 25 percent of Florida would be underwater. Also, our agriculture centers would have to relocate to Canada. Look out for an appearance by a young Al Gore...
